Attorney Donald Novick

Founding Partner

With 30 years legal experience, Attorney David Novick has established himself as a noted authority in the area of Trusts and Estates. A fierce and effective litigator, he has devoted much of his practice to protecting the inheritance rights of his clients. In all Surrogates Courts in the State of New York, he has handled:

  • Jury and non-jury trials
  • Contested probate and administration
  • accounting and discovery proceedings

Donald is a true pioneer in his area of practice. In the Suffolk County Surrogate's Court he recently concluded the first jury trial in approximately four years, overturning a prior verdict and setting aside an invalid will.

Background and Experience

Early in his career, Mr. Novick served as a Law Assistant in the Suffolk County Surrogate's Court. He was appointed Law Secretary to the Suffolk County Surrogate in 1979 and went on to serve as Chief Law Assistant in the Surrogate's Court from 1980-1981. In 1982, Donald went into private practice and has since served as Counsel for the Suffolk County Public Administrator.

Passing on His Knowledge of the Law

Donald regularly lectures to attorneys throughout New York State and the country, including to the 2006 New York State Bar Association, Trust & Estate Law Section. He has appeared as an expert in Estate Administration on MSNBC and Fox News Channel.
